When Central Mass Town Square launched the high school sports page in September, we wanted to look beyond the scoreboard, stat sheet and random box score. Our goal was to tell the inspiring stories of local high school athletes, coaches, and parents who make the sports community great. We wanted to get to know them and learn what inspires and motivates them to persevere through adversity.

Our mission was to celebrate these athletes for not only the positive impact they make on the field with their teams, but also the important roles they play in their community and in the classroom. For me, it has been an honor and privilege to witness their amazing prowess in the playing arena and it was even more remarkable getting to know them as people. Although they are young athletes, many are positive role models who have faced and overcame injuries, losing, and heartache to triumph in the end, regardless if they won or lost. They are the future leaders of this country and hopefully they will inspire you to be better in 2022.

Here is a roundup of my top six Town Square sports stories of 2021 in no particular order. I included the links to the stories in case you missed them the first time around.
