WORCESTER —This Saturday, Polar Park will be decked out in holiday décor.
It’s all part of the inaugural “WooSox Winter Wonderland” event, which is taking place on Dec. 11 from 11:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m.
The family friendly event is free, as are the hot cocoa, egg nog, chocolate chip cookies and Table Talk pies you’ll find there as well.
“This celebration of the holiday season is likely our last time to get together as one during this beautiful Inaugural Season,” said WooSox President Dr. Charles Steinberg in an article on milb.com. “We seek to shower our fans with the spirit we feel this time of year, a spirit our fans have showered upon us all year long. We hope to show our appreciation and gratitude for a magical season in this ‘Wonderful World of Worcester.’”
The event will feature guest appearances from Red Sox alums Sam Horn and Lenny DiNardo, who will be available to take photos with fans and sign autographs. Horn will be at Polar Park from 11 a.m.–12 p.m. and DiNardo will follow from 1-2 p.m.
Once you have your picture taken with the former Red Sox stars, you can get some additional pics with Santa and Mrs. Claus, who will be joining WooSox’s beloved mascots Smiley Ball and Woofster the WonderDog.
To keep the holiday ballpark experience authentic, traditional ballpark fare will be available at the concession stands and the WooSox Baseball Store will be open to those looking to grab some new merchandise before Christmas.
In addition, the “climate controlled” DCU Club on the Hanover Deck will have activities for kids including corn hole, coloring Smiley holiday pages and letters to Santa, according to milb.com.
Attendees are encouraged to bring new, unwrapped toys for the Toys for Tots donation box made possible by Toys for Tots and the Worcester Fire Department as well.
